The ergonomic cylindrical design makes the shift knob easy/comfortable to grip, especially during extreme driving conditions. It's also much easier to "push" into gear (e.g,. 2nd to 3rd and/or 4th to 5th) when compared to spherical type shift knobs. These shift knobs are also sized for a comfortable fit, even when using racing gloves.

The lightweight design and improved overall weight distribution allow for smoother, more accurate gear shifts. The light-weight design also means less load on the shift collar/spacers, helping to increase the longevity of these parts.
